20 Anniversary Edition Box Set of Rage Against The Machine’s Self Titled Album

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

Rage was a game changer for a lot of not only musicians but everyone listening to heavier music in the mid 90’s. While most of the radio was being assulted by grunge, some good but a whole lotta bad, Rage was musically about huge groove. Below is and artice from Loudwire.com talking about Sony Legacy releasing this box set with some pretty cool stuff!

Sony Legacy

Rage Against the Machine and Sony Legacy are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band’s eponymous debut in a big, big way with the incredibly deluxe release ‘Rage Against the Machine –XX,’ which will be available in several configurations on Nov. 27.

The politically charged 1992 album, which meshed rap and rock in a fresh, uncompromising way that has not been adequately copied since, fused Zack de la Rocha’s fire-in-his-belly lyrical proclamations with Tom Morello’s unique, sounds-like-a-turntable guitar tone. The incendiary, call-to-arms original was released in November of 1992 and the time to celebrate its power and legacy is now.

‘Rage Against the Machine – XX’ is newly remastered and will be offered in three formulations:

-The 20th Anniversary Edition Deluxe Box Set houses two CDs, two DVDs, one 12″ 180gm vinyl LP, one 40-page booklet and a two-sided poster.

-The 20th Anniversary Special Edition collects two CDs and a bonus DVD featuring six tracks in an oversized softpack.

-The 20th Anniversary Edition single compact disc includes three bonus tracks.

Additionally, a 12″ 180gm vinyl edition–a picture disc and a facsimile reproduction–of the original LP has been remastered and will be available, sans bonus tracks.

Compact Disc One of the newly remastered ‘Rage Against the Machine – XX’ will include the original album in its entirety, as well as three collectible b-sides from the era.

Compact Disc Two presents the original Rage Against the Machine demo tape, which was recorded in 1991 and sold for $5 at the merch table at the band’s earliest gigs. So it’s quite an artifact and a piece of RATM history, a “must own” for collectors, since it helped the band secure its record deal with Epic. This marks the first time the entire demo tapes have seen a full official release.

DVD #1 included in the Deluxe Box Set features Rage Against the Machine’s free concert in Finsbury Park on June 2010, which was a “thank you” to U.K. fans for making ‘Killing in the Name’ the U.K.’s No. 1 single during Christmas Week 2009. Also included are music videos plus live concert performance clips.

DVD #2 features Rage’s debut album, focusing on live performance from 1991-1994 and includes the full set of RATM’s first public performance as well as various live, rare clips.

New liner notes were penned specifically for this release by friend, fan and hip-hop icon Chuck D. of Public Enemy.

If you’ve got a RATM diehard in your life, your holiday shopping just got a whole lot easier.

Scott Stapp Suicide Attempt Saved By Rapper T.I.

Friday, October 5th, 2012

Scott Stapp was on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz talking about his book. “Sinners Creed”. I personally didn’t read the book because reading requires your eyes to do that left to right thing and honestly that’s just too much effort. And I always feel bad when I stain the pages with my chubby cheeto fingers. I can wipe off my remote. So I guess i’ll wait for the movie.

Anyway, he talks about the book opens with him going on a huge bender, hearing cops pounding on the door and him trying to climb out the balcony windows. Which of course never works, that only works in the movies. And the “Arms Wide Open” video was not a movie, I dont care how much it cost.

So he falls 40′ fractures his skull, breaks his beak and his hip and lays there in a pool of blood unable to move. When apparently rapper T.I. found him and took care of him basically saving his life. That story almost made me want to read the book. But instead watch the VH1 interview below.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations Include Rush, Public Enemy and Deep Purple

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

If you’re a musician and shit, maybe if you’re not, the R&R HOF can be very confusing. I actually wish they just wouldn’t call it the “Rock and Roll” HOF. I don’t know who is in it half the time and a lot of the time they’re not even Rock anyway. Some people are very passionate about it. Like Eddie Trunk if you ever listen to his stuff or watch That Metal Show. That dude about spits nails when the hall gets mentioned. I think maybe it should just be the Music HOF. Like important acts are snubbed like, Journey, Kiss, Judas Priest, Chicago, Faith No More.

But this year Deep Purple and Rush are nominated but so are Public Enemy and N.W.A and Randy Newman? W.T.F I mean, not that Public Enemy and N.W.A weren’t huge and deserve recognition. But in the R&R HOF? And don’t get me started on Randy Newman. I mean dude…. Nevermind… Ohh well anyway if you want to read the full article it was in Rolling Stone HERE

Rage Against The Machine Bass Player Tom Commerford Maybe On New Rage Album

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

If you’re a TMZ junkie as I have turned into the last few years you would know that sometimes they actually catch up with someone that isn’t a Kardashian or a Lohan. This time they caught up with Tom Commerford the bass player from Rage who gave them a solid “Maybe” on a new album and also his new passion in body mods.

American Idol Is Now Just Honey Boo Boo **SHOCKER**

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012

In my **SHOCKER** post of the century, American Idol has now moved on now and appears to be aiming for the Honey Boo Boo demographic. In what seems like a cross between Honey Boo Boo and a Chuck E Cheese cell phone gang fight video, Nicki Minaj is screaming at Mariah Carey in a totally non-stereotypical “Ohh No You Di’nnnnT” rant. Which I think is awesome! Because who better to judge talent other than someone like Nicki, why not have the people that write or auto-tune her music judge?

Best part of the video is watching Keith Urban, I bet he wishes he was a real cowboy right about now. That way he could of hopped on Mariah, rode her around the barrel and goat roped Nicki till the clowns came out to wrangle them back into the cages. Which to me is about the only way this would be successful, if it turned into a good old fashioned rodeo!!! Sometimes they have funnel cakes at rodeos. I like funnel cakes.

Phil Anselmo Talks Pantera Reunion With Zakk Wylde

Monday, October 1st, 2012

I’m 38, that’s pretty much old to todays kids trying to rock. And let me talk about todays musicians for a minute. Why the skinny chick emo pants and swoopy hair. How cool are you having a 26″ waist and a 30″ wallet chain and no real chops on your instrument?? I feel like an old man saying that music today is lame but come on, I grew up with Pantera and Ozzy. Music today is dumbed down, wickedly overcompressed, the volume is pushed to stupid dynamic murdering levels (I personally don’t understand that one) blaa blaa blaa.

Anyway, In an article on the Village Voice, Phil Anselmo discusses a Pantera reunion with Zakk Wylde on guitar. Before you get too excited he also mentioned that Vinnie Paul still won’t talk to him. But below is a clip from the Village Voice article that can be found HERE

There have been rumors floating around of a Pantera “reunion” with Zakk Wylde. Is that real, and would that include you?

Well, it would better damn well fuckin’ include me, or it wouldn’t be Pantera. I talked to Zakk about two weeks ago, and he’s very open for it. He’s got an open mind about it. But, truth be told, Vince [Abbott] has got a grudge against me that is really unfounded. And, honestly, I’ve always had a wide-open door when it comes to Vince.

If it takes me standin’ there and lettin’ that little guy punch me in the fuckin’ face repeatedly, over and over and over, til his hands were tired of hittin’ my rock-hard fuckin’ head, as long as we could sit down and talk afterwards, I’m all for it, man.

Would there be any issue with someone else playing Dimebag’s guitar parts?

Well, now, I didn’t say that the Pantera thing is a realistic thing. I don’t think that’s the important thing. I think what the important thing is, what Zakk and I discussed, is just Vince actually dropping his guard and realizing there is no treachery afoot.

Thursday, September 27th, 2012

King Animal is the name of the disc. And if the single is anything like the rest of the disc its going to sound like…. Well, Soundgarden!!! Pretty cool track, very dry production, and it sounds like they did in the early 90’s!

Avenged Sevenfold Tune “Carry On” from Black Ops II Available for Streaming

Monday, September 24th, 2012

I dig Avenged Sevenfold. They play music that I can’t personally play back after listening to them once. They have a track that appears to be included on the new Black Ops II game. Which BTW i’m starting to piddle in my shorts about, or that may be my damaged urethra. But either way, check out the new track HERE.

Billie Joe Armstrong Checks Into Rehab After iHeartRadio Fest Rant Video

Monday, September 24th, 2012

Drugs are bad… mmmmmkay…. Or I guess booze as appears to be the case. But here is the situation. Green Day is playing the iHeart Radio Fest mmmmkay…. Big Monitor above what appears to be sound or light crew or both in front of Billie mmmkay…. Big monitor has time counter which apparently dropped to 1 minute mmmkay… Green Day was supposed to have 45 min set mmmkay… But apparently that got cut short because Usher needed more time. Billie Joe stops song to voice his opinion on their set being cut short.

Billie, freaks out , drops a lot of F-bombs, and basically says fuck the establishment in a way that to me is still totally Rock N’ Roll. Then in a total crowd pleaser he takes out his aggressions on a Les Paul, which btw make the bass player follow suit (good thing Bill didnt jump off a bridge) and storms off the stage. So I have to say, to me this is totally bad ass. But with most things that are bad ass, something had to happen and in this case Billie goes to rehab.

Here is the statement released on the Green Day’s website www.greenday.com

“Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong is seeking treatment for substance abuse. Green Day would like everyone to know that their set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. The band regretfully must postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances.”

So, obivously I hope that BJA is ok but I have to say, from watching this video I kind of wish I was at that show!!! But then I would of had to watch a longer Usher set so I’m kind of glad I just get to watch the YouTube highlights.
