20 Anniversary Edition Box Set of Rage Against The Machine’s Self Titled Album

By |October 10th, 2012|Categories: Music News|Tags: , |

Rage was a game changer for a lot of not only musicians but everyone listening to heavier music in the mid 90's. While most of the radio was being assulted by grunge, some good but a whole lotta bad, Rage was musically about huge groove. Below is and artice from Loudwire.com talking about Sony Legacy releasing this box set with some pretty cool stuff! Sony Legacy Rage Against the Machine and Sony Legacy are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band’s eponymous debut in a big, big way with the incredibly deluxe release ‘Rage Against the Machine –XX,’ which will [...]

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations Include Rush, Public Enemy and Deep Purple

By |October 4th, 2012|Categories: Gear News, Music News|Tags: , , , , , |

If you're a musician and shit, maybe if you're not, the R&R HOF can be very confusing. I actually wish they just wouldn't call it the "Rock and Roll" HOF. I don't know who is in it half the time and a lot of the time they're not even Rock anyway. Some people are very passionate about it. Like Eddie Trunk if you ever listen to his stuff or watch That Metal Show. That dude about spits nails when the hall gets mentioned. I think maybe it should just be the Music HOF. Like important acts are snubbed like, Journey, [...]

**New** Jackson DK2M Pro Series Dinky

By |October 4th, 2012|Categories: Gear News|Tags: , , , |

It's a Dinky!!! A DK2M Pro Series Dinky to be exact!! And this looks to be a sexy one!! I like Jackson, they make great stuff, take for example this guitar. It's listed on Jackson's website at $1133.32 MSRP so we know its going to street under that. But let's just say it's $1K. You're still getting actual Seymour Duncan's and a Floyd, maple fret board if you want it. Really you wouldn't have to do much to it if you didn't want to. But go check it out yourself at Jackson's website HERE

American Idol Is Now Just Honey Boo Boo **SHOCKER**

By |October 3rd, 2012|Categories: Music News|Tags: , , , |

In my **SHOCKER** post of the century, American Idol has now moved on now and appears to be aiming for the Honey Boo Boo demographic. In what seems like a cross between Honey Boo Boo and a Chuck E Cheese cell phone gang fight video, Nicki Minaj is screaming at Mariah Carey in a totally non-stereotypical "Ohh No You Di'nnnnT" rant. Which I think is awesome! Because who better to judge talent other than someone like Nicki, why not have the people that write or auto-tune her music judge? Best part of the video is watching Keith Urban, I bet [...]

Peavey 6534+ Orange 4×12 Demo

By |October 2nd, 2012|Categories: Gear News, Gear Reviews|Tags: , , |

Here is a quick demo of the Peavey 6534+ played through an Orange 4x12. Good morning world of music type people. As I state in the video the 6534 is basically the 6505 but it uses El34's instead of 6L6's in the power section. Does it make a difference? I think so!! In many cases I think the difference between EL34's and 6L6's is very slight sonically. And more importantly I think that unless you're cranking your amp to the sun you're even farther away from telling a difference. But really in my opinion it’s the pre stage that [...]

Phil Anselmo Talks Pantera Reunion With Zakk Wylde

By |October 1st, 2012|Categories: Music News|Tags: , , |

I'm 38, that's pretty much old to todays kids trying to rock. And let me talk about todays musicians for a minute. Why the skinny chick emo pants and swoopy hair. How cool are you having a 26" waist and a 30" wallet chain and no real chops on your instrument?? I feel like an old man saying that music today is lame but come on, I grew up with Pantera and Ozzy. Music today is dumbed down, wickedly overcompressed, the volume is pushed to stupid dynamic murdering levels (I personally don't understand that one) blaa blaa blaa. Anyway, In [...]

King Animal is the name of the disc. And if the single is anything like the rest of the disc its going to sound like.... Well, Soundgarden!!! Pretty cool track, very dry production, and it sounds like they did in the early 90's! Check this mother out streaming on the front of their website HERE.

Matt Halpern Mapex MyDentity Drums

By |September 25th, 2012|Categories: Gear News|Tags: , , , , |

Have you heard of Matt Halpern?? If not, leave my website and go to google now!!! Dude is the drummer for the progressive metal band Periphery. I was fortunate enough to work on some stuff with those guys when I was freelancing for the magazine. During that time one of the most apparent things was that Matt was the real deal. In prog music there are a lot of great drummers. But, IMO many of them tend to be mechanical. I don't know that I would call that a bad thing but lets just say it's something that I pick [...]

Ibanez RG920MQM FTW

By |September 25th, 2012|Categories: Gear News|Tags: , , |

I am a total sucker for maple fret boards!! I remember when I first realized I loved them!!! While I had played them before I still remember the epiphany or the "holy crap why didn't I notice this before" moment. My brother scored a old Fuchsia Ibanez RG USA Custom with the matching mirrored pick guard and from that point on I was sold. And it's not like a tone thing because I really don't believe your fret board makes that much of a difference. It was more of a dryness to me. Maple always felt very dry and smooth [...]
