Wayne Static Tribute at Crypticrock.com

Tuesday, December 30th, 2014

Wayne Static was part of my life’s soundtrack for what seems like as long as I can remember.  Growing up in the midwest, playing in bands, always loving heavy music and with some electronic elements.  When I first got a taste of Static-X I was in love with that sound.  I had the same love affair with Powerman 5000.  A combination of heavy, angry powerful music but music that had a drive and an audible bounce.  People had fun at those shows.  In retrospect it was the beginning of the end for music as I knew it.

These bands were popular when there were still rockstars, well before the homogenized version of music we get today.  It’s unfortunate that music that is fun has all but disappeared.  But that’s for an entirely different rant.  Maybe later tonight.

For now, here is a great post from over at crypticrock.com   Called When The Pighammer Falls.  Click the link and check it out.  It’s worth the read!

Butcher Babies On Tour with Black Label Society and Hatebreed

Tuesday, December 30th, 2014

Unfortunately, this tour isn’t getting very close to me but if it’s in your neck of the woods it’s 3 fun bands to see!!

BUTCHER BABIES have just completed recording for the follow-up to their debut full-length, Goliath. Due out summer 2015, this currently untitled album was produced by Logan Mader (DEVILDRIVER, GOJIRA, 5 FINGER DEATH PUNCH), who also worked on the band’s recently released covers EP, Uncovered (the video for the cover version of “They’re Coming To Take Me Away” can be viewed here). For a preview of new material, be sure to catch BUTCHER BABIES on the road, where they will be debuting tracks for the first time live!

To purchase BUTCHER BABIES’ latest release, Uncovered, head over to iTunes for a digital copy or Best Buy for the CD.

Unreleased Dimebag Track Whiskey Road

Tuesday, December 30th, 2014

Guitar World Magazine is preparing their tribute issue to Dimebag for their Feb 2015 release. With that, they have released a solo track of Dime’s titled Whiskey Road. According to GW this was recorded by Dime in 2001 during the last leg of the Reinventing the Steel U.S Tour and features Dime on all instruments including vocals.

The upcoming issue appears to be loaded with coolness including a private tour of Dime’s home and a segment on his most cherished guitars. It looks to be a great issue so pick it up!! But until then check out the tune!!
